MGHL Re-Brands to FMAHL

The McMurray Gentlemen’s Hockey League (MGHL) is proud to officially announce a major new chapter in league history, as the organization will re-brand to the Fort McMurray Adult Hockey League (FMAHL) beginning with the 2026–27 season.

The re-brand represents an important evolution for the league as it continues to grow and expand recreational hockey opportunities within the Fort McMurray community. While the league has proudly operated under the MGHL name for many years, league leadership felt the transition to FMAHL better reflects the direction, inclusiveness, and long-term vision of the organization moving forward.

The new Fort McMurray Adult Hockey League identity creates a broader representation of the league’s membership and structure while maintaining the same commitment to competitive recreational hockey, community involvement, and league tradition that players have come to expect over the years.

This transition comes during a period of significant growth for hockey in Fort McMurray, including the recent partnership announcement with the Fort McMurray Women’s Hockey League (FMWHL). As the organization continues expanding opportunities for adult hockey players throughout the region, the FMAHL name helps establish a stronger identity that better represents the league as a whole.

Although the league name and branding will change, the core values and operations of the organization will remain the same. League structure, divisions, scheduling, and the focus on providing a well-organized recreational hockey experience will continue unchanged throughout the transition.

Alongside the new name, the league has also unveiled a new FMAHL logo and branding package that reflects both the local community and the league’s vision for the future. The updated branding incorporates imagery inspired by Fort McMurray and Northern Alberta while modernizing the league’s overall identity.

League officials believe the re-brand marks an exciting milestone and positions the organization for continued long-term growth both on and off the ice.
